Hard to believe, but we are in the final stretch! Just three months left to go. Thank you to everyone who has followed along so far this year. I know I’m terribly behind on comments, DMs, and emails, but I want you to know that I appreciate the heck out of every thought you share and every “like” you click. It really does make this project worth doing!
In sitting down to write this post, I was amazed to discover that “The Twilight Zone” has grown on me quite a bit.
The tune I once found a skippable lowlight of 2112 has become something of a personal earworm, one I find humming to myself idly now that the air has gotten chilly and the spooky-wooky vibes have intensified.
Look, it’s still a song about a TV show—a concept from which I instinctively recoil, even though some really great music has used serials as inspiration, from Bastille’s “Laura Palmer” to Iron Maidens’s “The Prisoner.”
But maybe what works for me about “The Twilight Zone” is the eerie guitar work from Alex—the searing, screeching high notes of that solo have burnt their way into my neurons forever—and the fact that at 3:20 minutes, the song doesn’t overstay its welcome. If it were nine minutes, maybe I’d feel differently.
PS: It looks like in the past few hours, YouTube inked a deal to bring back all the missing videos, so never fear if you can’t see the video linked below. Just give it a day or two and it should be restored.
